Can I have a cleaner during lockdown?
Yes. Tradespeople who work in people’s homes, such as housekeepers, plumbers, electricians and gas engineers etc can continue to work during ‘lockdown’ which includes all tiers 1 -4 and also full lockdown but must observe the Coronavirus health and safety guidelines within the FAQ for both customers and cleaners.

What about face coverings?
The government is encouraging all people to wear a face mask in enclosed public spaces. Our cleaners will wear a face mask when inside your home.

What cleaning products should I provide?
Please provide an anti-bacterial (non-bleach) spray that kills 99.9% of bacteria.

Health and safety guidelines for customers
Please contact the office on 01865 981220 or email us at admin@thomsoncleaning.co.uk to pause your cleaning sessions if:
- Anybody in your home has developed symptoms of coronavirus, or is self-isolating.
- If you’ve tested positive for Coronavirus. If you are double vaccinated, you are not currently required by law to self-isolate. However, we would like to know and relay this to your cleaner so that she/he can make an informed decision as to whether she/he will clean your home during this time.
- We advise customers to let fresh air into their homes when the cleaner is working where possible.
- We advise customers to wash cleaning cloths and mop covers at a high temperature (60°C or above) after every use.
- Please provide either disposable gloves or washable gloves for the cleaner to use. One set for the kitchen and a separate set for the bathroom(s). It is advisable that you wash gloves after every use.
- Governent advise is to wear a face covering in enclosed areas. It may be advisable for both you and your cleaner to wear a mask indoors when you are in the same room together.
- If you require a cleaner that has had two doses of the Covid-19 vaccination, please let us know. Most of our cleaners have been double vaccinated. However, some have chosen not to be vaccinated.
Health and safety guidelines for cleaners
- We’ve advised our self-employed housekeepers to wash their hands on arrival at your home and before leaving.
- We’ve advised our self-employed housekeepers to wear gloves throughout their cleaning session.
- Open windows where possible for ventilation.
- The government advice is for people to wear a face-covering in enclosed spaces where social distancing is not always possible and you come into contact with others you do not normally meet.
- We have asked our self-employed cleaners to let you know, and our office know if she or anybody in her household were to develop symptoms of coronavirus or tests positive for Coronavirus.
- To get two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and teh subsequent boosters jabs.
